Professor Heather King is a prominent academic in science education at King's College London, serving as Professor in the School of Education, Communication & Society and co-chair of the Science and Technology Education Research Group. She holds the role of Vice President for Education at the British Science Association. Her research focuses on equitable science education across formal and informal settings, emphasizing social and environmental justice. Key areas include museum education, maker-spaces, and climate change pedagogy. King leads modules in STEM education leadership and contributes to programs in Education in Arts and Cultural Settings.
Her research explores how educators foster engagement in science through innovative approaches like the Science Capital Teaching Approach, aiming to promote social justice. She has supervised numerous PhD students investigating museum education, environmental education, and STEM equity. King’s work bridges policy and practice, analyzing climate change education systems and advocating for evidence-based educational policies.
