Heather Javaherian-Dysinger is an Associate Professor and Program Director of the Master’s of Occupational Therapy Program at Loma Linda University. With nearly 20 years of practice in occupational therapy, she holds a doctorate from Creighton University (2004) focused on domestic violence. Her teaching emphasizes research, evidence-based practice, education, community program development, and health promotion.
Her research interests include domestic violence intervention, palliative care, and lifestyle/health initiatives. She actively supervises interns at a domestic violence agency and oversees program development in these areas. Dr. Javaherian contributed to a position statement on domestic violence for the American Occupational Therapy Association and has authored/co-authored peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed articles on practice, education, and end-of-life care.
Outside academia, she co-founded Roots Down, Inc., a nonprofit supporting domestic violence survivors. Her professional narrative blends clinical work, community engagement, and educational leadership in occupational therapy.
