Heather Hamilton serves as Director of the UNI Community Music School and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Northern Iowa's School of Music. She teaches music education and music theory courses while overseeing community engagement programs. Her academic credentials include a Master of Music Education (emphasis in Clarinet Pedagogy) from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Western Illinois University.
Her research focuses on integrating the National Standards of Music and Comprehensive Musicianship into beginner clarinet instruction. Additional interests span arts administration, community music outreach, and pedagogical strategies for lifelong musical expression. She maintains an active performance career with ensembles including the Quad City Symphony, Central Kentucky Concert Band, and Cedar Falls Municipal Band.
With over a decade of multi-state teaching experience, Hamilton has held instructional positions at Black Hawk College and UW-Stevens Point's Arts and Culture Outreach program. She also possesses background in music retail management and studio operations. Her mentorship philosophy prioritizes student development as both musicians and individuals.
