Heather E Johnson

Heather E Johnson is an Assistant Professor in the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Studies (2002), a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (2007), and is currently pursuing a Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate, expected to graduate in May 2022.

Her professional journey began in 2007 as an occupational therapist (OT) in a skilled nursing facility. In 2014, she transitioned to academia, serving as program director for an OTA program and completing its Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) re-accreditation. In 2015, she founded and led an OTA program in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Her research focuses on occupational therapy interventions for veterans with combat-related PTSD, student well-being in OT/OTA programs, compassion fatigue among healthcare professionals, and fostering rapport in online OTA education.
