Anne Johnson

Dr. Anne Johnson is an Associate Professor for Knowledge Exchange and Patient/Public Involvement in Learning and Teaching at the University of the West of England (UWE) within the College of Health, Science and Society. She also serves as a Consultant Occupational Therapist and Joint Clinical Lead of the Bath Centre for Fatigue Services, alongside roles as a Macmillan Professional and Senior Lecturer at UWE. Her expertise spans fatigue management (including ME/CFS, cancer-related fatigue, and post-COVID fatigue), occupational science, and leadership in healthcare innovation.

Dr. Johnson holds a PhD from UWE (2017) on men's experiences of CFS/ME, an MA, and professional qualifications including Dip COT (Occupational Therapy), RNLD (Neurological Rehabilitation), and FETC (Executive Coaching). She actively participates in national committees like the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and Macmillan Cancer Support's AHP Expert Advisory Group.

Her research focuses on user-centered healthcare systems, with special interests in: fatigue management strategies, work rehabilitation for chronic conditions, and integrating patient/public involvement into clinical practice and education. She has led initiatives to improve service redesign, interprofessional collaboration, and mentoring frameworks in academic and clinical settings.

Collaborations include the Personalised Care Institute and Macmillan Cancer Support. Her publications highlight themes like reverse mentoring for academics, PPI in lab programs, and interdisciplinary cancer fatigue management. She has also contributed to policy work with the Department of Health and Work and Pensions.

Dr. Johnson’s leadership extends to the Bath Centre for Fatigue Services, where she operationalizes evidence-based practices. Her future work emphasizes scaling patient-informed solutions and advancing occupational science applications in chronic illness management.
