Heather Conway is a Professor at the School of Law, Queen's University Belfast. Her research focuses on death law, property law, succession law, and the intersection of law with emotion and cultural practices. She leads projects addressing multicultural burial conflicts and has authored over 85 publications. Recognized with awards including the 2019 QUB Staff Recognition Award, her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to justice and social cohesion.
Research Interests:
- Legal frameworks for posthumous treatment of human remains
- Contested funerals and familial disputes
- Emotional dimensions in property law
- Intergenerational wealth transfer and testamentary obligations
Activities: Active in academic leadership, including organizing interdisciplinary workshops on law and death, and serving on editorial boards. Engaged in public discourse through media commentary on funeral rights, cremation policies, and cultural heritage preservation.
