Heather Adam, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. She serves as a clinical microbiologist at Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg and leads the mycobacteriology section.

Her research focuses on antimicrobial resistance and epidemiology of Streptococcus pneumoniae in Canada, with a secondary interest in microbiology laboratory diagnostics. She contributes to national surveillance studies through the Canadian Antimicrobial Resistance Alliance (CARA) group, partnering with Dr. George Zhanel.
Dr. Adam chairs the Fellows of the Canadian College of Microbiologists standing committee, which accredits clinical microbiology training programs and certification exams in Canada. She has published over 100 manuscripts and delivered hundreds of conference presentations.
