Heather Abbott-Lyon, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Kennesaw State University, and serves as the Interim Director of Research Development and Strategic Initiatives in the Office of Research. Her academic journey includes a B.S. in Chemistry (with secondary major in Classical Studies and minor in Mathematics) from Emory University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Virginia, followed by postdoctoral positions at Georgia Tech and the Fritz-Haber Institute, where she was an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow.
Research Interests: Heather's research spans broad areas of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Astrochemistry, with a focus on Physical Chemistry and Laboratory Astrophysics. Her work bridges fundamental chemical processes with astrophysical applications, supported by her affiliations with divisions like the Laboratory Astrophysics Division of the American Astronomical Society.
