Hazel Smith is an Associate Professor of Maternal and Child Health at Staffordshire University and Deputy Lead for the Centre for NMAHP Research and Education Excellence (CeNREE) at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. Her work focuses on advancing neonatal care, breastfeeding practices, and healthcare service design. She holds a PhD in Paediatrics & Child Health from University College Cork and has contributed to international clinical guidelines, including the World Health Organization’s breastfeeding recommendations. Hazel’s research has influenced clinical care protocols in multiple countries and led to the development of the Whitehouse-Smith model for clinical research nursing structures.
