Hayri Acar

Dr. Hayri Acar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aeronautical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. His research primarily investigates fluid dynamics phenomena including porous media flows, vortex interactions, and aerodynamic behavior of structures. He leads the ITU ATA Team focused on unmanned aerial systems and has directed multiple university-funded projects.

His research interests encompass:

• Experimental and analytical methods in fluid mechanics
• Fluid-structure interactions in aerospace applications
• Flow characterization through porous media
• Aerodynamic optimization of cylindrical structures
• Shock wave and vortex dynamics

Current projects include wind load analysis for buildings, numerical simulation of fluid-structure interactions, and experimental studies of high-viscosity flows in porous media. He has supervised 26 graduate theses and maintains active collaborations in computational and experimental aerodynamics.
