Hayley Fisher

Hayley Fisher is an Associate Professor in the School of Economics at the University of Sydney and serves as Academic Director (Postbachelor and Continuing Education) in the Education Portfolio. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge (2011), with prior degrees from Cambridge (BA, MPhil).

Her research focuses on Labour Economics, Household Economics, and Public Policy, particularly addressing household formation, intrahousehold resource allocation, and behavioral impacts of family law. Recent work examines financial consequences of divorce, paid parental leave policies, and repartnering incentives.

Key publications include analyses of divorce financial outcomes, child support impacts, and policy reforms affecting cohabitants. She has secured grants such as the 2020 ARC Linkage Project on intergenerational disadvantage and a 2018 educational innovation grant for supporting international students.
