معرفی
Dr. Hassan Morad is a Lecturer in Immunology at the University of Westminster, where he serves as Co-Course Leader for BSc Medical Sciences and Module Leader for Clinical Immunology and Immunohaematology. He is affiliated with the Centre for Nutraceuticals Neuroscience, Inflammatory Disorders and Therapeutics, leading research on neutrophil and macrophage pathophysiology in inflammatory diseases.
Dr. Morad holds a PhD in Neuroimmunology from King's College London, complemented by postgraduate degrees from the University of Exeter and King's College. His research program focuses on:
- Mechanisms of neutrophil-mediated organ damage in sepsis
- Pharmacological inhibition of immune cell overactivation
- Drug repurposing (notably artesunate for COVID-19 inflammation)
- TRPM2 ion channel functions in immune responses
- Complement pathway dynamics
His publication record (2015-2025) demonstrates consistent focus on immunology mechanisms, particularly neutrophil chemotaxis, macrophage activation, and therapeutic interventions for inflammatory conditions. Recent work explores NET involvement in bowel disease and hydrogen peroxide's role in infection responses.
Awards and recognitions include:
- President's Prize (2017)
- Royal Society of Medicine recognition
- Multiple active grants from Quintin Hogg Trust and University of Westminster
Dr. Morad currently supervises three doctoral candidates researching anti-inflammatory compounds and COVID-19 models. His lab participates in international collaborations, including WHO's SOLIDARITY trial for COVID-19 therapeutics. Editorial activities include serving on boards of CNS Neuroscience & Therapeutics and Frontiers in Pharmacology.
