Dr Hasret Cetinkaya is a Senior Lecturer in Human Rights & Gender at Manchester Law School, Manchester Metropolitan University. Her research explores the gendered experiences of rights and ethical subjectivity, focusing on epistemic justice and the politics of knowledge production regarding marginalized women in the Global South and Kurdish diaspora communities.
Education: PhD from the Irish Centre for Human Rights, University of Galway (Hardiman Scholarship recipient); LLM degrees from University of Essex and University of Copenhagen.
Research Focus: Her work examines 'honour' (namûs) in human rights advocacy through ethnographic research in Kurdistan and Denmark, and analyzes feminist activism in Rojava, Syria. Current projects include two book manuscripts funded by Marie Skłodowska-Curie and UKRI grants.
Professional Service: Editorial Board member for Feminist Legal Studies Journal. Conducted international workshops in UK, Belize, and Cambodia.
