Hasan Demirkoparan is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University Qatar, affiliated with the Mellon College of Science. He serves as Area Co-Head for Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on biomechanics, soft tissue mechanics, and hyperelastic materials, with emphasis on fiber-reinforced composites and collagen remodeling. He holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
Demirkoparan's work integrates theoretical mechanics with biomedical applications, particularly in modeling arterial mechanics, aneurysm progression, and tissue adaptation. His publications explore topics like swelling-induced deformation, fiber orientation effects, and finite element analysis of soft tissues. Current research interests include morphoelasticity and homeostatic mechanisms in biological tissues.
His contributions span over two decades, with notable studies on collagen fiber distribution, material swelling mechanics, and bifurcation analysis in fiber-reinforced structures. He actively teaches advanced mathematics courses and maintains an active research agenda in computational mechanics and nonlinear elasticity.
