Harvey Guthrey

Harvey Guthrey is a Researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), specializing in advanced electron-microscopy-based characterization techniques for photovoltaics and energy-storage materials. He joined NREL in 2013 after completing his Ph.D. in Materials Science at the Colorado School of Mines, where he also earned a Master's degree. His Bachelor's degree in Physics comes from the University of North Texas.

Research Interests: Connecting device-level performance with micro- and nanoscale phenomena through structural and chemical characterization, charge-carrier recombination analysis in semiconductors, and applications of electron microscopy to renewable energy materials.

Recent Publications (2025): Focus on perovskite photovoltaic modules, solid-state battery anodes, passivated contact solar cells, and phase separation in semiconductor buffers. Topics span renewable energy materials, nanoscale engineering, and advanced manufacturing.
