Dr. Harvey Amorín is a Tenured Scientist at the Institute of Materials Science of Madrid (ICMM) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). His career includes research roles since 2006, including fellowships in the Juan de La Cierva and Ramón y Cajal programs. He holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Aveiro (Portugal, 2005), an MSc in Physics (University of Havana, 1999), and a Physics degree (1997).
His research focuses on multiferroics, magnetoelectrics, and piezoelectric materials, with expertise in ceramic processing, nanocomposites, and energy harvesting. Key projects include optimizing lead-free piezoelectrics and developing magnetoelectric composites via mechanochemical synthesis.
Dr. Amorín has supervised/co-supervised PhD/MSc students, advised five doctoral dissertations, and contributed to journals like Nature Communications and Physical Review B. Awards include National Prizes from the Cuban Academy of Sciences (2005, 2012) and the Prize Alma Mater (2000).
He organizes scientific events like the Materials for Information Technologies seminars and chairs the Indian Journal of Materials Science Editorial Board. His labs specialize in thin-film preparation, ceramics, and functional characterization.
