Haruko Murakami Wainwright

Haruko Murakami Wainwright is an Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), affiliated with the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering. Her research focuses on environmental informatics, integrating mechanistic modeling and machine learning to address challenges in nuclear waste management, radiation monitoring, and environmental resilience. She leads interdisciplinary projects such as the DOE’s Advanced Long-term Environmental Monitoring Systems (ALTEMIS) and the Artificial Intelligence for Earth System Predictability (AI4ESP) initiative.
