Hartwig Roman Siebner

Hartwig Roman Siebner is a Clinical Professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Copenhagen, with dual appointments in Neurology and Psychiatry. He serves as Head of Research at the Center for Functional and Diagnostic Imaging and Research, leading the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR) at Copenhagen University Hospital Hvidovre. His leadership extends to the "Control of Action" (ContAct) research group, which received a Lundbeckfonden Excellence grant (2011-2015).

Dr. Siebner's research focuses on how the human brain generates and optimizes actions, combining advanced MRI with transcranial stimulation techniques to study motor brain systems. As a board-certified Neurologist, his clinical research centers on movement disorders like Parkinson's disease and focal dystonia. His work spans multiple research areas including Imaging of Disease & Mechanisms (which he coordinates), Computational & Systems Neuroscience, and Precision Brain Stimulation.

His recent publications (2025) demonstrate diverse research interests spanning transcranial ultrasonic stimulation, chemogenetic motor control, mentalizing networks in high-risk children, auditory processing in psychiatric disorders, metabolic effects of dietary interventions, and computational modeling for brain stimulation. This reflects his interdisciplinary approach bridging neuroscience, psychiatry, and engineering.
