Hartmut Niemann is a Professor for Structural Biochemistry at Bielefeld University since 2013, affiliated with the Faculty of Chemistry under the Biochemistry IV department. He previously held a Junior Professorship there from 2007 to 2013.
His research focuses on structural and protein biochemistry, particularly protein crystallography, with applications in studying virulence factors of human pathogenic bacteria, Type III secretion systems, flavin-dependent halogenases, and pharmacological chaperones for multiple sulfatase deficiency.
