Harry Cheney is a Professor in Production Film and Media Arts at the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, Chapman University. With 26 years of teaching experience, he specializes in Foley artistry and visual storytelling, training hundreds of students on the Foley Stage.
- Education: Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Loyola Marymount University.
Cheney is a veteran sound editor with over 30 years of professional experience. His research and creative work emphasize the integration of sound design into cinematic narratives, leveraging techniques like Foley artistry to enhance sensory storytelling. His 2022 article Supra Sonics explores avant-garde sound applications in film.
- Awards: Emmy Award nominee, Golden Reel Award nominee.
He has contributed to acclaimed projects including the Academy Award-winning sound editing for Bram Stoker’s Dracula and feature films like Legends of the Fall and Child’s Play. Additionally, he founded the Dodge Summer Film Academy, mentoring 60 students annually with over 420 instructional hours.
