Harriet Smith is an Associate Professor in Psychology at Nottingham Trent University's School of Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Psychology from NTU (2013-2016) and completed an MSc Psychology conversion course there, following an undergraduate degree in History at the University of Cambridge (2004-2008).
Her research focuses on applied cognitive psychology in forensic and security contexts, specifically improving perpetrator identification accuracy through:
- Face and voice lineup analysis for eye- and earwitnesses
- Optimizing identity verification methods from ID photos or voice recordings
She contributes to reducing miscarriages of justice and enhancing national security protocols.
