Associate Professor Harriet Gee is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Sydney's Westmead Clinical School and a Staff Specialist in Radiation Oncology at Westmead Hospital. She holds an adjunct role as a Research Scientist at the Children’s Medical Research Institute. Her academic background includes an MBBS from the University of Melbourne and a DPhil (PhD) from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Her research focuses on mechanisms of cell death after stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR), biomarkers of radiation resistance, and synergistic effects of immunotherapy and radiotherapy.
Dr. Gee’s research has been published in high-impact journals such as Nature, Cancer, and Clinical Cancer Research. Her current projects include investigating cell death mechanisms post-radiation, novel radiotherapy-systemic therapy combinations, and biomarker validation for radiosensitivity. She is actively involved in teaching Sydney University medical students across oncology and respiratory blocks and co-supervises PhD candidates.
Her international collaborations include studies on microRNA biomarkers at the University of Oxford and the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Gee has secured a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Ideas Grant for her work on radiation-induced cell death mechanisms. She is affiliated with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists as a Fellow and contributes to cancer-related themes such as translational research and molecular biology.
