Harman Khare serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering within Gonzaga University's School of Engineering & Applied Science. His research focuses on tribology and surface science, specializing in the development of advanced tribological materials and multiscale experimental tools for precision surface analysis.
His academic credentials include:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware
- B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Panjab University
Dr. Khare's research spans fundamental and applied aspects of Tribology, Surface Science, and Materials Engineering, with emphasis on nanoscale friction phenomena and thin-film lubrication systems. He directs the GU Tribology Research Laboratory where undergraduate researchers develop novel materials like MoS2-based nanocomposites using advanced imaging techniques including SEM and AM-AFM.
Teaching responsibilities include core courses such as Intro to Mechanical Engineering Design, Tribology, Materials Engineering, and Manufacturing Processes. Prior to Gonzaga, he held research leadership roles in the Carpick Nanotribology Group at the University of Pennsylvania where he managed experimental projects in surface science.
He actively mentors undergraduate researchers through the Tribology Research Group and maintains regular office hours for student consultation, reflecting his commitment to hands-on engineering education within Gonzaga's Center for Materials Research framework.
