Professor Harald Riegel serves as the Rector of Aalen University of Applied Sciences and is affiliated with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. He holds multiple leadership positions including Chairman of the Senate and Head of the Laser Application Center (LAZ).
His research focuses on Laser Material Processing, Advanced Laser Technology, and applications in manufacturing. Through the LAZ, he supervises student theses and projects across various engineering disciplines.
Professor Riegel teaches Laser Technology I and II, and Advanced Laser Technology courses. He oversees several academic programs including the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing research master's program, Applied Photonics, and various bachelor's engineering programs.
