Hao (Howe) Liu is a Tenured Professor and Department Head of Physical Therapy at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center's School of Allied Health Professions. He holds physical therapy licensure and has over 20 years of academic experience across four institutions including LSUHSC, where he leads the department while maintaining clinical engagement.
His educational background includes a PT, PhD in Anatomy, and MS. He has served as course director for Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, Diagnostic Imaging, Pathology, Pharmacology, and the Evidence-Based Practice Series I-IV throughout his 22-year teaching career.
Research focuses on neurological rehabilitation and aging, specifically Tai Chi's impact on neuroplasticity in Parkinson's disease, assistive device optimization for mobility impairments, cadaveric peripheral nerve studies, and virtual rehabilitation technologies for underserved communities. Dr. Liu maintains extensive service commitments including editorial board roles for rehabilitation journals since 2008, leadership positions in APTA and ACRM committees, and plans to resume per diem geriatric clinical practice later this year despite administrative responsibilities limiting direct patient care.
