Dr. Hany Ghoneim is a Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kate Gleason College of Engineering, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He holds a B.S. and M.S. from Cairo University, Egypt, and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University, followed by a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at AT&T Bell Laboratories. His academic career spans over two decades at RIT, with additional research collaborations at IBM, Edward Air Force, Cornell Injection Molding Laboratories, and Lord Corporation.
Research Focus: Dr. Ghoneim specializes in advanced materials and mechanical systems, with core expertise in:
- Development of flexible-matrix composites for high-efficiency pumps and damping systems
- Innovations in vibration control through novel composite structures and nonlinear dynamics
- Thermo-viscoplastic modeling and finite element implementation
- Biomimetic structures inspired by cardiovascular mechanics
- Polymer composite reinforcement for industrial applications
His publications predominantly explore composite material behavior under dynamic loading, pump optimization using auxetic structures, and vibration damping solutions. Recent work shows increasing focus on energy-efficient systems and biomimetic designs.
