Hans Rainer Sepp

Dr. phil. habil. Hans Rainer Sepp is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University, where he has been a Senior Lecturer since 2004. He is affiliated with the Department of Philosophy, specializing in interdisciplinary and intercultural phenomenology.

• Education: Master of Arts (1980), Ph.D. (1992) in philosophy from Ludwig Maximilians-University of Munich; Habilitation (2005) from Technical University of Dresden.

Research Interests focus on theories of knowing at the intersection of philosophy, science, religion, and art, with emphasis on European and Asian philosophies. His work includes a renewed phenomenology of the human body and the development of an intercultural oikological philosophy. He has held visiting professorships in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Mexico, Italy, Japan, and Russia.

Scientific Awards include the Husserl-Prize (2018), multiple Festschriften (2005, 2016), and the Husserl Lecture (2012). He has secured grants from the Czech Science Agency, Volkswagen-Stiftung, and INTAS for projects on body experiences, phenomenology, and European philosophy.
