Hans Maes is a Senior Lecturer at the Higher Institute for Philosophy (KU Leuven) and a researcher in the arts. He serves as Vice Dean of Research for the Associated Faculty of Arts and is a member of Ethics @ KU Leuven. His career includes roles as Director of the Aesthetics Research Centre at the University of Kent (2006–2024).
Education: PhD in Philosophy from KU Leuven, followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Helsinki, Finland, and the University of Maryland, USA.
Research: Focuses on aesthetics, existential themes, and ethical dimensions of art.
