Hans Lofsten

Hans Lofsten is a Professor of Engineering Economic Analysis at the Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy, Chalmers University of Technology. His research focuses on innovation economics, technology-based entrepreneurship, and resource allocation strategies for new technology-driven firms. He holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Gothenburg (1992) and has held academic roles including Associate Professor (1999) and Assistant Professor (2005) at Chalmers before becoming a full Professor in 2007.

He has extensive experience in industrial economics education, authoring two textbooks and supervising ten doctoral students. His research explores innovation systems, technology parks, incubators, and their impact on industrial structures and economic development. He is an Associate Editor at The Journal of Technology Transfer and has contributed to research institutes like the Gothenburg Research Institute (GRI) and IMIT. His work emphasizes models for efficient resource allocation in technology-based enterprises.
