Hans Dieter Schotten

Prof. Hans Dieter Schotten is a renowned academic in mobile communications, currently serving as Professor of Radio Communication and Navigation at the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Technology Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) and as Scientific Director and Head of the Intelligent Networks research department at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). He coordinates Germany’s 6G platform and leads the Open6GHub research hub, while also contributing to standardization bodies like 3GPP, IEEE, and ETSI.

Active in standardization and industry collaboration, he co-founded 5G-ACIA and advises international firms, the German Federal Court of Justice, and the International Chamber of Commerce. He has held key positions in VDE’s Information Technology Society and scientific advisory boards for institutions like IHP.
