Hans-Christoph Winkler

Hans-Christoph Winkler is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Interdisciplinary Life Sciences, University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, affiliated with the Konrad-Lorenz-Institute of Ethology. His research integrates behavior, ecology, and morphology, focusing on birds through comparative approaches.

Research interests include: the ecological and evolutionary interactions between morphology and behavior; mechanisms driving biological diversity; intra- and inter-specific variation in diversification; habitat influences on acoustic and optical communication; evolution of mating systems and social interactions; ecological conditions for cognitive evolution; and applications of scientific insights to conservation.
