Hans C Noel

Hans C Noel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Government at Georgetown University's College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on political coalitions, parties, and ideology in the United States, emphasizing how policy demands intersect with coalition-building. He co-authored the influential The Party Decides: Presidential Nominations Before and After Reform and blogs on political parties at Mischiefs of Faction. Noel also co-directed the award-winning film The Rest of Your Life.

Education: Ph.D. and M.A. in Political Science from UCLA (2006), B.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University. Previously held roles include Robert Wood Johnson Scholar in Health Policy Research (2008–2010) and fellow at Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School. He teaches courses on parties, elections, political history, and methodology.
