معرفی
Hans Blom is a Researcher and Docent in Biological Physics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. He holds a joint role as Head of Unit at SciLifeLab, a national bioscience hub, where he supports advanced microscopy applications. His expertise lies in super-resolution microscopy (e.g., STED) and its applications in life sciences, particularly kidney pathology, neuroscience, and cell biology.
Blom earned his M.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Uppsala University (1998) and Ph.D. in Biophotonics from KTH (2003), followed by postdoctoral research at the Max-Planck-Institute under Nobel laureate Stefan W. Hell. His current research focuses on developing optical 3D kidney pathology imaging in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet and MedTechLabs. He also supports national and international microscopy users through SciLifeLab and the Nordic Microscopy Infrastructure (NMI).
His research interests include STED microscopy development, membrane fluidity analysis, and kidney disease mechanisms. Key contributions include advancements in image deconvolution (Deconwolf) and 3D kidney tissue imaging protocols.
Blom’s work bridges engineering and biology, with applications in diagnostics and drug development. He teaches courses in experimental biophysics and physics at KTH.
