Hannes Rothe

Hannes Rothe is a Professor and Chair of Sustainability and Innovation in Digital Ecosystems at the University of Duisburg-Essen’s Faculty of Computer Science. He leads the Place Beyond Bytes research group and teaches Digital Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Machine Learning. His work intersects Digital Ecosystems, Data Organization, and AI-driven Entrepreneurship, with publications in Information Systems Research, Strategic Management Journal, and European Journal on Information Systems.

His research focuses on generativity in digital platforms and AI venture scaling, particularly in healthcare contexts. He co-founded the Digital Entrepreneurship Hub at Freie Universität Berlin and serves on editorial boards for European Journal of Information Systems and Electronic Markets.
