Hannah Pomella is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Geology, University of Innsbruck, specializing in Tectonics, Structural Geology, and the Geology of the Alps. Her research focuses on thermotectonic history, low-temperature thermochronology, and magnetic fabric analyses, with notable contributions to studies of the Periadriatic Fault System and the Brenner Base Tunnel.
- Education: PhD from University of Innsbruck (2010), Master's in Earth Sciences (2006).
- Leadership roles: General Secretary of the Austrian Geological Society (2023–present), member of AlpArray working group (2016–2022).
Her research interests span structural analysis of Alpine regions, geothermal systems, and the application of GIS in geology. Key projects include thermotectonic studies of the Dolomites Indenter and magnetic fabric analyses of fault rocks. She has been recognized with the Doc-fForte fellowship (Austrian Academy of Sciences) and the Südtiroler Sparkasse Foundation award.
Teaching includes courses on Alpine Geology, Spatial Data Applications, and Geoinformatics at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
