Hannah Hutton is a Postgraduate Research Student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bath and a Research Associate at the University of Bristol (2023–2025). She also affiliates with the Applied Digital Behaviour Lab and the Institute for Digital Security and Behaviour (IDSB). Her research focuses on privacy decision-making, digital health data, and the societal impacts of digital footprints. She holds a Master of Computing from the University of Leicester (2019).
Her work addresses how users perceive online privacy, factors influencing privacy behaviors, and inferences derived from digital traces. Key contributions include analyzing iOS App Tracking Transparency decisions, published in CHI '23. This study explores user motivations through thematic analysis, linking privacy concerns and personality factors.
Hutton received the Doctoral Recognition Award (2023) and actively engages in academic outreach, including organizing the British Psychology Society’s Cyberpsychology Conference (2023). She has presented at high-impact venues like ACM CHI and led workshops on privacy literacy, reaching 12 news outlets and 16 Mendeley readers.
