Hanna Bandos is a Senior Biostatistician and Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. She serves as the Lead for the Statistics Division at NRG Oncology SDMC in Pittsburgh, where she contributes to the design, implementation, and analysis of phase III clinical trials for cancer prevention and treatment. Her work emphasizes statistical rigor in trials for breast and colorectal cancer, with a focus on biomarker-driven research and patient-reported outcomes (PROs).
- Education
- MS in Mathematics, Kharkiv National University (2000)
- PhD in Biostatistics, University of Pittsburgh (2007)
Her research spans statistical aspects of clinical trial design, implementation, and analysis. She has collaborated on correlative science projects to identify biosignatures predicting treatment benefit and late recurrence risk in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. Additionally, she has served as the lead QOL statistician for trials assessing patient-reported outcomes and quality-of-life measures.
The articles in her publication record highlight her expertise in biomarker validation (e.g., MammaPrint assay), extended hormone therapy for breast cancer, and methodological advancements in PRO/QOL studies. These works underscore her commitment to improving clinical trial frameworks and personalizing cancer treatments through statistical innovation.
Her roles include teaching BIOST 2131 Foundations of Statistical Theory at the University of Pittsburgh and leading the Statistics Division at NRG Oncology SDMC. Contact details include hab7@pitt.edu and 201 North Craig St., Suite 350.
