Dr. Hana Hassanin is an Associate Professor in Translational and Experimental Medicine at the University of Surrey. She serves as Director of the Surrey Clinical Research Facility and the NIHR Royal Surrey Clinical Research Facility, and holds a clinical consultancy role with the Dementia Research Institute (DRI) at the Surrey Sleep Research Centre. She has a joint appointment with the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust.
Dr. Hassanin completed her medical training in internal medicine at the University Hospital of Giessen (Germany), followed by oncology and immunotherapy specialization at the German National Centre for Tumour Diseases, focusing on pancreatic adenocarcinoma. She also earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes from Cardiff University.
Her research interests span oncology, immunotherapy, diabetes, dementia, and sleep disorders. Recent work includes evaluating contactless sleep technologies and Alzheimer’s-related sleep analysis. Notable achievements include securing £1.7m for dementia sleep research and leading a £1m clinical research facility to address regional healthcare challenges.
Grants and facilities include the NIHR Royal Surrey CRF and Surrey Clinical Research Facility. She collaborates across disciplines, integrating clinical practice with translational research to improve patient outcomes.
