Dr. Han Zhang is a Professor in the Department of Information Technology Management at the Scheller College of Business, Georgia Institute of Technology. He holds the prestigious title of Steven A. Denning Professor in Technology & Management and serves as the Faculty Director of the Denning Technology & Management Program. He is also an affiliate research faculty member at the Center for Research in Electronic Commerce, University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Zhang's research centers on the economics of information technology, online trust and reputation, online word-of-mouth, and the evolution of electronic markets. His work has informed policy, serving as the basis for Congressional testimony on small business growth in the digital economy. He has made significant contributions to understanding how emotions, trust signals, and platform design influence user behavior in digital environments.
His recent publications (2022–2003) span premier journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and Journal of Marketing Research. Collectively, these works explore the psychological and economic mechanisms behind online reviews, consumer trust, and digital marketplace dynamics. The research integrates behavioral experiments, empirical modeling, and content analysis to uncover nuanced patterns in digital consumer behavior.

He founded the China Summer Workshop on Information Management (CSWIM) and has held leadership roles in major conferences such as PACIS and WeB. His work bridges academic rigor with real-world impact in digital commerce and policy.
Dr. Zhang is actively involved in multiple research initiatives and collaborates with scholars globally. His lab and research team focus on digital platforms, consumer analytics, and IT economics, often leveraging large-scale datasets from online marketplaces and social media. Future work continues to explore the evolving landscape of digital trust, AI-driven customer interactions, and cross-cultural differences in online behavior.
