Dr. Halit BAŞ is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Iğdır University's Faculty of Science and Letters. He holds a PhD from Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University (2013-2019) and completed his undergraduate studies in History Education at Bayburt 19 Mayıs University (2005-2010). His research focuses on Ottoman military logistics during World War I, border cities' strategic importance, and archival analysis of Ottoman administrative records.
His key publications include studies on the Iraq-Iran front during WWI, Ottoman diplomatic missions to Russia, and historical analysis of Hakkari's lead mining. He teaches courses on Ottoman educational institutions, diplomatic history, and local history research methods. Recent work emphasizes Iğdır's role as a border city (1828-1914) and medical challenges faced by Ottoman forces during wartime.
BAŞ actively engages in interdisciplinary projects combining history education with cultural heritage, such as evaluating historical site tours for pedagogical purposes. His work bridges archival research with contemporary interpretations of Ottoman military and administrative practices.
