Haley Oliver

Haley Oliver serves as the vice provost for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars and the 150th Anniversary Professor of Food Science at Purdue University. Appointed to the newly created vice provost role approved by the Board of Trustees in April 2024, she has implemented significant initiatives including increased fellowship funding flexibility for PhD recruitment and the Future Faculty Boot Camp to support academic career development. She leads comprehensive efforts across Purdue's West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses to advance graduate student, professional student, and postdoctoral scholar success.

Dr. Oliver's academic leadership includes former roles as assistant dean of agricultural online programs for the College of Agriculture and director of the USAID Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Food Safety. She is internationally recognized for developing food safety capacity in Afghanistan (2012-2017), Kenya, Cambodia, and Nepal, establishing herself as a global expert in food safety systems for developing economies.

Her research centers on the prevalence, persistence, and transmission mechanisms of foodborne pathogens—particularly $$L. monocytogenes$$ and $$Salmonella$$—within complex food systems. She develops evidence-based control strategies to minimize cross-contamination risks and enhance food safety protocols, with specialized expertise in sanitizer and disinfectant efficacy applicable across both food production and healthcare environments.

Dr. Oliver's distinguished contributions have earned her multiple prestigious accolades:
