Dr. Hakan Can is an Associate Professor at Bingöl University's Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Department of Islamic History and Arts. He holds a Ph.D. from Atatürk University (2023) and has served as a Research Assistant and Lecturer since 2015. His academic career includes teaching courses on Islamic history, medieval political texts, and classical Arabic historical sources. Fluent in Arabic, Persian, and English, he contributes to academic discourse through peer-reviewed journals and international conferences.
His research focuses on medieval Islamic history with special emphasis on socio-cultural dynamics, political history of Eyyubi and Resulid periods, and analysis of classical historical sources. He has authored/co-authored chapters in edited volumes on topics such as Yemen's Resulid era (2024), medieval Egyptian famines (2020), and Eyyubi military leadership during Crusader conflicts (2024). His recent book Abdüllatîf el-Bağdâdî’nin Gözüyle Orta Çağ’da Mısır (2023) examines medieval Egyptian socio-cultural structures through a noted historian's work.
Dr. Can has participated in research projects like 'Islamic Classics' (2020-2021) and 'Scientific Pioneers of Islamic Civilization' (2020-2021). His publications appear in journals like Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi İslam Tetkikleri Merkezi Dergisi and Bingöl Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi Dergisi. He currently serves on the editorial board for several journals including Tokat İlmiyat Dergisi.
