Haizhi Wang is a Professor of Finance at Illinois Institute of Technology’s Stuart School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where he received the Founder’s Award of Excellence and the Del and Edith Karger Dissertation Prize. A former visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge’s Center for Financial Analysis and Policy, Wang specializes in corporate finance, financial institutions, entrepreneurial finance, and strategic management. His research is funded by entities like the FDIC, Kauffman Foundation, and Stern School of Business’s Berkley Research Center. Key areas include tax policies, social capital’s role in innovation, and banking regulations. He has published widely in journals like the Journal of Banking and Finance and Strategic Management Journal.
Wang’s research interests span corporate finance mechanisms, the impact of banking structures on small businesses, and the interplay between tax strategies and corporate behavior. He has explored how social networks influence executive risk-taking and the efficacy of non-compete agreements on innovation. His work often bridges finance with strategic management, emphasizing interdisciplinary insights. Recent studies include analyses of state tax changes on corporate tax aggressiveness and the economic implications of interorganizational relationships in acquisitions.
