Haekyung Jeon-Slaughter

Haekyung Jeon-Slaughter, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Hematology and Oncology. She also serves as Section Chief and Statistician for Research and Analytics at the VA North Texas Health Care System. Her interdisciplinary research integrates biostatistics and econometrics to evaluate cost-effectiveness of medical interventions, gender disparities in cardiovascular outcomes, and smoking’s impact on treatment efficacy. She holds degrees from Seoul National University (B.S./M.Sc. in International Economics), SUNY Buffalo (M.Sc. in Economics), and completed postdoctoral training at Cornell University.

Her career includes faculty roles in Psychiatry at UT Southwestern and the University of Oklahoma, emphasizing statistical methodologies in medical research. Research interests span cardiovascular economics, procedural cost-effectiveness, and translational studies linking physiological stress markers to mental health outcomes. Notable work includes analyses of peripheral artery disease interventions, veteran healthcare disparities, and biomarkers for chronic disease progression.
