Haekyung Jeon-Slaughter

Haekyung Jeon-Slaughter, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Hematology and Oncology. She also serves as the Section Chief and Statistician for Research and Analytics at the VA North Texas Health Care System, where she applies her expertise in biostatistics and econometrics to medical research.

Dr. Jeon-Slaughter earned her bachelor's degree and a master's degree in international economics at Seoul National University in South Korea. She then earned an additional master's degree in economics at the State University of New York in Buffalo. She completed her postdoctoral degree at Cornell University in Ithaca.

Dr. Jeon-Slaughter's research focuses on an interdisciplinary approach to medical research applying both statistics and econometrics. Her research interests encompass the cost-effectiveness of endovascular intervention, gender-based cardiovascular outcomes, and cigarette smoking's effect on treatment outcomes. Her work spans multiple disciplines including cardiology, psychiatry, neuroscience, and substance abuse research, demonstrating her ability to apply statistical methods across diverse medical fields. Her research often examines the intersection of economic factors and medical outcomes, particularly in the areas of medication adherence and treatment effectiveness.
