Ha HOANG

Professor Ha HOANG is a distinguished faculty member at ESSEC Business School, where she serves as Professor in the Management Department and Associate Dean for Research (2024-2027). Previously, she was Head of the Management Department at ESSEC (2018-2022). She has held academic positions at INSEAD (2000-2007) and Case Western Reserve University (1996-2000).

Her educational background includes a PhD from University of California, Berkeley. She has received notable recognition including the Women Board Ready certificate from ESSEC Business School (2023).

Professor Hoang's research focuses on strategic alliances, entrepreneurial ventures, entrepreneurial identity, and career transitions. Her work bridges organizational theory and entrepreneurship, examining how individuals and organizations navigate complex strategic partnerships and entrepreneurial journeys. She explores how founders develop their identity, how firms form and manage strategic alliances, and how employee entrepreneurs create ventures while maintaining relationships with parent organizations.

Professor Hoang's scholarly contributions have been recognized with numerous awards including the Outstanding Reviewer Award at the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (2025) and Exemplary Performance as Developmental Reviewer at Academy of Management Review (2020). Her research has been published in top-tier journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Strategic Management Journal, and Strategic Organization, with over 10,000 citations according to Google Scholar.
