معرفی
Hakan Çandar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Gaziantep University's Faculty of Engineering. Since 2018, he has held this academic rank after serving as a Research Assistant from 2009 to 2018. He has also held administrative roles such as Department Erasmus Coordinator, Domestic Internship Coordinator, and Vice Head of Department between 2019 and 2021.
Education:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Gaziantep University (2012–2018)
- MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Gaziantep University (2009–2012)
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Cumhuriyet University (2003–2008)
Research Interests:
Hakan Çandar's research spans several key areas in mechanical engineering. He focuses on non-traditional manufacturing processes, including laser-assisted cutting and waterjet-guided laser systems. His work on autofrettage and residual stress analysis in high-pressure cylinders contributes to structural integrity and safety in hydraulic systems. Additionally, he explores friction welding and surface quality enhancement in metal processing.
Publications Trend:
His recent publications (2017–2024) reflect a strong emphasis on experimental studies in manufacturing and materials engineering. Topics include the integration of laser and waterjet technologies for improved surface quality, automation of machining systems for friction welding, and optimization of autofrettage processes for high-pressure systems. These studies are published in reputable journals indexed in SCI-Expanded and international databases.
Research Projects:
- Laser-based Metal Forming and Energy Storage Material Development (2019–2021) – Researcher
- Friction Welding Test Unit Setup and Experimental Investigation of Process Parameters on Weld Strength (2022–2024) – Principal Investigator
- Measurement of Strain and Residual Stresses in Autofrettage Processes Using XRD (2016–2017) – Researcher
Teaching & Advising:
He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses such as Machine Elements I, Engineering Drawing I & II, and Non-Traditional Manufacturing Processes. He has supervised one completed PhD thesis on waterjet-guided laser cutting and is currently advising a master's thesis on fatigue life analysis of autofrettaged cylinders.
