Gürdal Arslan serves as Associate Professor and ECE Graduate Chair in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where he has held faculty positions since August 2004.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2001)
Research Interests: Dr. Arslan specializes in cooperative multi-agent systems design using game theoretic methods, with applications spanning autonomous resource allocation for mission planning, multi-sensor deployment, traffic management, and cooperative multi-user MIMO signaling in wireless networks. His work bridges theoretical game frameworks with practical engineering solutions for distributed decision-making systems.
Scientific Awards:
- National Science Foundation CAREER Award (2006) for "Cooperative Systems Design - Stochastic Games Approach"
Service and Grants: As ECE Graduate Chair, he oversees all graduate program matters (contact: ecegc@hawaii.edu). His research program is anchored by the NSF CAREER grant supporting stochastic game applications in cooperative systems design, reflecting significant recognition of his interdisciplinary approach to complex resource coordination problems.
