Göran Hansson is a Senior Professor of Cardiovascular Research at Karolinska Institutet, affiliated with its Department of Medicine and Center for Molecular Medicine. He concurrently serves as Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and Vice Chairman of the Nobel Foundation's Board of Directors. His past roles include Chair of the Nobel Committee for Physiology or Medicine and professorships at Gothenburg University and Harvard Medical School.
