Göran Bostedt is an Associate Professor of Natural Resource Economics at Umeå University's School of Business, Economics and Statistics (USBE) and a Visiting Professor in Forest Policy at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). He serves as Deputy Director of CERE (Center for Environmental and Natural Resource Economics). His research focuses on climate change impacts on pastoral communities, biodiversity conservation policies, and sustainable forest management. With over 30 years of teaching experience, he has supervised four doctoral students and assisted in mentoring four others.
His research interests span natural resource economics, environmental policy, and agricultural development in diverse contexts like Sweden, Norway, Kenya, and Tanzania. Notable work includes analyzing climate threats to reindeer herding in Sápmi and exploring livelihood strategies among spice farmers in Tanzania. He has contributed to policy frameworks for forest landscape planning in Sweden and studies on the socio-economic dimensions of environmental policies.
Publications highlight his interdisciplinary approach, addressing topics such as biodiversity tenders, recreational fishing valuation, and policy trade-offs in marine conservation. His work often bridges economic analysis with ecological and social considerations, emphasizing real-world policy implications.
